For organizations that prepare and submit federal research grants, there are always changes to pay attention to. The next big one that looms over everyone is the migration of parent opportunities to an updated form set known in the biz as "Adobe Forms-B." At the same time, the NIH's NRSA Training Grant opportunities are converting from paper submission to electronic submission.

Next week, Cayuse customers receive Cayuse424, version 4.0. It includes all the Adobe Forms-B updates, all the validation updates associated with the new forms, plus the ability to prepare and electronically submit NRSA Training Grant opportunities. 

Since most Cayuse customers use Cayuse424 over the web, they don't have to do anything - the updates just appear. Frictionless.

Hat Trick of Cayuse customers on NPR

NPR's All Things Considered Saturday featured a trio of stories about research emanating from Cayuse customer sites. It's great to be reminded where the grant proposal process, where Cayuse makes such a strong contribution, fits into the world of science research.

While students at Rensselaer Polytechnic, Eben Bayer and Gavin McIntyre did research on mushrooms that led to a commercial venture for green insulation

From South Dakota State University, a story about chemistry professor Jihong Cole-Dai's research into a mystery volcano that may have caused the "year without a summer" in 1816.

Meanwhile, over at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill (where the Cayuse team was just visiting), a story about rising CO2 levels and overgrown lobsters.

"Best Places to Work in Academia" list

The Scientist magazine has published its list of the Top 40 Best Places to Work in their November issue. There are quite a few Cayuse customers on this list. Congratulations are in order!

Cayuse chooses not to "tweet"

Cayuse, Inc., the leader in web-based software for federal grant applications, announced today that it will not be using Twitter, the micro-blogging service, to share details and updates about its business. Cayuse will not be posting multiple daily entries about "all things Cayuse", updates on federal grant programs, or the value of SaaS in research administration. The company will not be harassing its customer base with reminders to "follow" company tweets, nor will it be sending similar invitations to the larger grant community. 

Instead, Cayuse staff will continue to answer the phone, write informative customer emails, and otherwise communicate with our growing list of customers. We will also continue to respond directly to the many institutions that are interested in the Cayuse approach to saving time and money in their grant procedures.
